OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
Dr. Myrowslaw Choma is a highly experienced Obstetrician-Gynecologist with over four decades of clinical practice. He holds board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and specializes in private practice, as well as correctional obstetrics and gynecology medicine.
Currently, Dr. Choma serves as an OB/GYN physician at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ, a position he has held since 2005. He has extensive experience in correctional medicine, having worked at the Hudson County Jail, Union County Jail, Passaic County Jail, Logan Hall, and Delaney Hall throughout his distinguished career. Dr. Choma also maintained a private practice for over 30 years, from 1982 to 2012.
A dedicated researcher, Dr. Choma earned his PhD with a dissertation on erythrocyte lifespan in cholecystectomized patients, which involved comparative studies of Chromium 51 labeling and bilirubin excretion. He also contributed to the field with a publication in Contemporary OB/GYN in March 1977, titled “A Plan to Remember the Structural Formulas of Steroid Hormones,” which he co-authored with Shun LI, T., Kaminetsky, H., and Caterini, H.
Dr. Choma is a member of several professional organizations, including ACOG, AMA, the New Jersey OB/GYN Society, and the Union County Medical Society. He is fluent in English, German, Polish, and Ukrainian, which allows him to serve a diverse range of patients. His patient care philosophy centers on active listening, allowing patients to voice their concerns and promoting trust in the physician-patient relationship.
