Dr. Joel Federbush brings over three decades of experience in forensic and general psychiatry to his role as Chief Psychiatrist at CFG Health Systems. Board-certified in both Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Federbush has held leadership positions across correctional, hospital, and community settings, including serving as Director of Psychiatry for multiple county jails and juvenile detention centers, and as Associate Medical Director at Bergen Regional Medical Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Federbush has been a trusted consultant for legal and protective services, conducting forensic evaluations for DCPP, Adult Protective Services, and private attorneys.
A frequent presenter at national conferences, Dr. Federbush has delivered lectures on topics ranging from psychiatric emergencies and PTSD to malingering detection and therapeutic laughter. His published work includes contributions to American Jails Magazine and clinical research on antidepressants and nutrition.
Dr. Federbush is passionate about advancing mental health care in justice-involved populations and is known for his collaborative, team-based approach to psychiatric leadership.
